MERGE PURGE | For
smooth-running merge, purge and de-dupe of lists and file selections
Most mailings require data to be prepared using a rigorous procedure of merge
/ purge and de-dupe so that the final files to be used for mailing are in a common
format, free of duplicates, and attract maximum MAILSORT discounts. Recruitment
mailings use external lists from a variety of sources, while customer mailings
use files of selected customers or clients. DPC's merge / purge and de-dupe service
undertakes the following procedures to make mailing preparation as accurate and
smooth-running as it should be: DPC receives files and converts them to
a common format. Once this is done, the data is de-duped, usually using a customer
supplied de-dupe priority or ranking. The de-dupe is carried out to family, household
or individual level, depending on clients requirements. The merged file
is then checked against any client STOP or suppression files, the MPS, deceased
and gone-away files - if required, and any matches removed from the mailing. NCOA
redirections and deceased and gone-away suppressions can also be supplied. The
final net file is then allocated, as advised by the client to the various campaigns
- usually on a 1:N basis - and the various tracking or pack codes applied. The
various campaigns are then mailsorted, and reports and data sent to the relevant
laser bureau or mailing house.
